Potential entrepreneurs take up trade challenge

An initiative to encourage would-be entrepreneurs to test trade their business ideas in an existing market hall has seen a 100% take-up of enterprise units. The Enterprise Arcade Initiative, which was funded by One North East and is part of a joint venture between County Durham Enterprise Agencies and Inshops Centres Limited, is looking to give the economy in Bishop Auckland a boost by helping new businesses to start trading and has taken over 10 of the 15 vacant units.

Life in the fast lane for businessman Mark

A keen interest in cars had budding entrepreneur Mark Reynolds all geared up for his first business venture. The 34-year-old has always taken pride in the cars he has owned and all of that polishing and preening led him to start up his own business selling a range of quality car care products. Mark took advantage of the Enterprise Arcade scheme at Bishop Auckland's InShops, a project funded by One North East, to give potential entrepreneurs the opportunity to try out their business ideas. His shop, South Durham Auto Detailing, was set up in one of the vacant units in the InShops Centre on Newgate Street and business is looking promising.
